Suspected hantavirus cases are sent to Germany, while other patients are hospitalized in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and South Africa. This ship was moving to the Canary Islands in Spain, and the risk of hantavirus spread is low, but it can spread to passengers or crew on the ship. The hantavirus case must have been infected before boarding during travel in Chile or Argentina.
