A man 34 years old in West Bengal is back on his feet within 3 hours after going through minimally invasive hip replacement therapy in Faridabad because of Ankylosing Spondylitis. This is a chronic inflammatory illness that impacts joints and the spine and limits mobility. Sourav had been experiencing Spondylitis for four months. Dr Walecha performed Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement therapy in Faridabad using the DAA (Direct Anterior Approach).
This surgery was supported by advanced hip navigation technology that offers real-time guidance to help position the implants more properly. The procedure took three hours, and Sourav started walking within 3 hours after his total hip replacement.
Dr Walecha, Director of Sarvodaya Hospital, said that such cases are linked with spinal fusion and there is a need to restore leg length and biomechanics of the hip in total replacement surgery. DAA lets us work through the intermuscular plane that preserves soft tissue, and no major cuts are done in this technique. This allows accurate implantation among patients, says Dr. Walecha.
Sourav said that before the total hip replacement, even basic activities like walking or riding a bike were difficult, and it was severely painful and affected his mental and physical condition. He could only walk without any pain after 3 hours of surgery, and this is a miracle and has brought happiness back to my life. With rehabilitation and proper physiotherapy, Sourav will get his confidence back and will get back to his daily routine.
