Unhappy couples stay together in a relationship, thinking that separation will affect the mental and emotional well-being of their kid. But Manveer Kaur Anand from Ranchi, Mental Health Counsellor and Author of the book True I False I, points out an important reality: kids are deeply influenced by the quality of the environment in which parents bring up their kids.

Parents usually think that their kids don't understand anything, but kids are sensitive, and they notice everything at home. If there are constant fights at home, then they can sense that something is off. Kids absorb everything internally. They might not have the words to explain their emotions, but this emotional impact stays with them all their lives. Growing up in a negative house will shape how they view trust, commitment, family relationships, and love.

Manveer Anand, Mental Health Counsellor, says that she hears adults sharing their stories about how their parents unhealthy relationship has negatively impacted their lives. Some even don't want to get married or struggle with trust issues because they witnessed these problems in their childhood. The lessons kids learn from their family atmosphere build the foundation of their future relationships.

This is the reason why Manveer Kaur Anand recommends that if parents wish to stay in a relationship, then they must be responsible parents. Parents should ensure to stay together and create a healthy space for their kids at home. This would help kids to build a foundation of love, mutual respect, and healthy relationships in the future.

If the relationship has become hostile or toxic, then staying together only for the sake of the kids will do more harm than good. A mutual separation will help kids and offer more emotional security than staying in a home filled with ongoing conflicts. The goal should never be to maintain a relationship; according to Manveer Kaur Anand, rather it should be the emotional well-being to protect the kids. Kids learn from their parents, and home is the place that decides the blueprint for the life they will build in the future.
