Do you feel puffy in the morning, and your jeans are tight? Do you feel there is extra salt in dinner, or do you skip dessert, and this is happening constantly? This is something you shouldn’t avoid at all. You might be thinking that this is due to stress, but what if it’s something else? Dr V Sreekanth Reddy from KIMS Hospital, Bangalore. Ovarian cancer looks like a silent disease.
Women often mistake this for lactose intolerance and PMS. Women feel their clothes have become tighter, but still, bloating remains. Along with bloating, women feel their stomachs are full even after eating a small amount of food. This is a common sign of ovarian cancer in women. They might go to the washroom often.
Women who are more than 50 years old are at risk of ovarian cancer. Dr. Reddy said women with a family history also have higher chances of ovarian cancer. There is a need for genetic counselling with a medical track record of ovarian cancer in the family. Ovarian cancer can happen to anyone, and you should listen to your body.
On World Ovarian Cancer Day, the message is never ignore your body, and if there are continuous signs of ovarian cancer, then don’t wait and consult an oncologist. Dr Reddy also said that early detection of ovarian cancer helps to improve survival rates. There are better targeted therapies that work wonders once the disease is caught early.
