From 28 to 31st, India-Africa Fourth Summit was about to take place, and the Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that it is being postponed due to the Ebola Outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. WHO (World Health Organization) has already declared a Public Health Emergency because of the further transmission risk.
Recognising the importance of ensuring the complete engagement of African leaders and the emerging public health emergency, consultations were held between the African Union Commission and the Government of India to postpone the India-Africa Summit in 2026. The new dates of the India-Africa summit will be finalized through mutual consent.
Also, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, has issued a public health advisory for passengers arriving from Ebola-affected countries, asking them to report any warning signs of the disease, like headache, weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, or bleeding, to quickly report to the health officials at the airport.
Passengers are also instructed that if they had direct contact with the blood of a confirmed or suspected Ebola patient, they should inform the health officials at the airport. Delhi airport has requested to cooperate with public health measures and screening in compliance with International Health Regulations.
